While I found Eye of the North to be an empty, soulless creation, I am very impressed with the BMP. It feels like the classic Guild Wars polish, fun, and love has returned. Love the missions so far (especially Gwen's) and the weapon skins are all excellent.

I didn't think I had the mission pack because I hadn't spent enough money. After reading that I should have enough for buying GWEN online I checked it out.
I DO HAVE IT !!
thanks anet.

I think you may be a bit off here, Rahja. Last night I was able to get 1 authorized book every time I did a mission, but they were customized to the character who did the mission. It seems that those books are unlimited.
The books that do seem to be limited are the ones from the bonus objectives that can be claimed by any character.
For example, last night I did the Battle of Jahai 3x with my ranger, deliberately avoiding all but one bonus objective. I got one book customized for my ranger each time, plus Drumond says that I've earned one book that any of my characters can claim.
So, it seems that:

You get one book each time you complete the quest, customized to the character that completed it. You may get an unlimited number of customized books this way.
You also get one un-customized "credit" for a book that any character can claim the first time you complete each bonus objective. These are limited to 3 per quest per account.
At least, that's how it seem to be working.
(No, I don't see the logic in this choice of game design. My guess is that it's a byproduct of (1) the lack of a customized-per-account functionality, and (2) the preclusion of using Drumond's book-holding ability as a pseudo-customized-per-account functionality due to the need to make bonus completion a one time event (in order to stop you from farming the 2.5k reward).
Anywho, from a "how should it work" perspective, unlimited items is definitely the better choice. Every other weapon in the game is farmable. Even quest items and end-game items can be farmed with throw-away characters. To make these items one-per-character-and-no-twinking would run totally counter to the "no mistake is permanent" philosophy underlying so much of the rest of the game.)

I don't think that people should get discouraged with not getting the Bonus Mission Pack. I have no doubt in my mind that they will sell it in the Online Store soon enough. But you will probably have to wait a while longer.
I just wish that Anet would have applied the same quality of BMP weapons to most of the other weapons in GW.

The offer didn't require you to purchase GWEN through the store. It was just a perfect timing to kill two birds with one stone for those who didn't care about the box. People who wanted to get the box got it and if they now wanted to get the BMP, they would just need to buy something else from the store. Twice as much money for ANet.
|
first this would defeat the purpose of this first limited bonus pack offer if it was offered for an UNlimited amount of time. even if they make it avaible to buy, it shoudl cost a price b/c anet would make much more money that way.

i actualy wouldnt regret buying eotn online b/c the bonus pack was FREE. i didnt have to spend extra b/c they both cost the same where i live, so i would just have been happy recieving something free.

1. Can you do each of the 4 missions as many times for as many reward weapons as you like, even after you've completed all of the bonus "discoveries"?
2. Does completing the bonus "discoveries" net you anything other than the 2.5K? I understand that each of the bonus discoveries can only be turned in for reward once per account, which isn't a big deal if the only reward is the 2.5K. But if there are reward weapons, the I need to carefully plan which of my characters turns in each bonus book.
Thanks in advance.

1. Yes
2. Click discoveries with Historian you will see you can take more authorized books from him for additional weapons so you do not have to repeat quest. Max is 3 books I assume on that since its 3 bonuses.

Well, I didn't buy it from the online store, guess I should have bought it from the online store. No bonus for me. Would've just bought it for the skins anyways, they look SWEET! If the bonus pack comes in a store or someplace sometime soon, that will be cool. If it doesn't, then all the people saying "I got it and you didn't" might suffice for a while, I'll maybe ragequit for a week or two, but then people wont care anymore (or stop trying) and just get on with life.
Congradulations to the people who got it. Sorry for the people who didn't get it.
Peace.

But the weapons that you can trade the bonus books in for are the same weapons you can trade the main mission books in for, correct?
There aren't any reward weapons that you can only get from trading in bonus books, are there?
I guess what I'm really asking is whether or not there is any difference between main mission books and bonus books other than that the former is character based while the latter is account based.
I don't want to find out I can't get some of the weapons on the specific character I want after it's too late.

No there is no difference. As as stated they are account based. So if you use up your bonus books on one character they are gone. However you can repeat the full quest for another book as much as you like.
All a bonus book is is a free way to get a weapon without going thru the mission again.
EDIT: Most of the stuff is on wiki now.
